Belize's Lady Di
As the President of NICH, Ms. Diane Haylock has many responsibilities, she oversees numerous departments within the the body of NICH, which stands for the National Institution of Culture & History. This governmental institution has the enormous task of documenting and preserving the culture of Belize. She also has the role of creating the environment for our budding film industry to grow in Belize. That is were our paths cross, over the past 2 years as Belize's Film Commissioner I have had the opportunity to work with Ms. Haylock in bringing awareness of the film industry opportunities to our local Belizeans. I have partnered with some local businessmen and Investors from abroad to assist in building an industry that we could all be proud of. The road has been tough at times but with the support of The Belize Government, Ms. Haylock and the her staff we have made some pretty significant strides. We are now at the crossroads of our 5 year plan and we are very close to locking down our first multi-million dollar project. I wanted to put this blog out there because far too many times we get credit for things that we do and we don't share the credit for what was achieved. In life I've learned that anything that is truly successful has a team element that played a major role in getting it done. I'd like to personally say thank you for your support Ms. Haylock and that the film industry in Belize is truly benefiting from your conscious efforts to see this thing all the way through. The Belize International Film Festival 2010 says thank you as well.

Opening Night At The BIFF 2010
Daryl Chill Mitchell was the man of the hour at the opening night for the Belize International Film Festival. Chill spoke about his desire to see how he could help young Belizean Artist realize their dreams. Daryl spoke to an audience of young, eager and talented film makers about his experience in the industry and how they could have a huge impact on the international film world by telling the Belizean Story. He was very candid about the challenges that they would face, but he told them that they should never give up because they have a unique story that only they can tell. The audience was very appreciative of his words of encouragement and took what he said to heart. Chill has been a friend to the people of Belize and has help out over the years with promoting the country, we would like to acknowledge his kindness and hard work and let him know that Belize considers him one of their own. Thanks to all that supported the festival and we look forward to seeing you guys July 15th - July 23rd 2011.

The Belizean International Film Festival
The BIFF has just completed it's 5th Annual Festival, the 10 day event celebrated the budding Belizean Film Industry. We were blessed to have incredible guest speakers at our opening night and throughout the week at our workshops. The attendees had a chance to mingle and interact with industry professionals from abroad as well as the local Belizean talent. The message that was most profound throughout the festival was that Belize has many worthwhile stories to tell and that our artist should be the ones telling the story. The phrase Belizean Voice was most commonly used when it came down to describing our efforts on how we should
expose Belize to the world. The most amazing thing is that everyone spoke about the voice of the Belizean people and the many wonderful unique stories we could tell. I left the festival with a sense of purpose for our industry and how it could be the foundation of a powerful movement in the resurgence of the Kriol people and it's culture. Who Say Belize No Got No Culture?

On the Lot at FOX Studios, after sitting down with the executives at FSN, we all had to take a moment and appreciate what just happened. I wanted to take this picture so I could have a visual reminder of the day. I want to personally thank Big Dwight Howard, Mitchell Butler & Jimmy Smith for allowing me to be a part of this project. Let's swing for the fences guys, in the words of the great Mitch Butler this is a zip code changing opportunity,
