Happy New Years, as we close out 2011 and say a fond farewell to the year I would like to take this time to give thanks to all those close to me and to those who have help us here at the Belize Film Commission. This has been a year of many highs and some lows but we have managed to do some noteworthy things over the past 12 months. I would like to thank our glorious Prime Minister, Dean Oliver Barrow and his wife Mrs. Kim Simplis Barrow for their support of the Film Commission Office. Thanks to the parent entity, NICH which is headed by Ms. Diane Haylock and her staff. I want to thank all the folks that have chosen Belize as their location for their production, because with out you my office would be obsolete. I want to let the Belizean public know that we have some major things coming on board for 2012 so please keep your eyes and ears open because you'll be hearing a lot more about Belize and all the wonderful films that are being done here in our Jewel. We have big plans for increasing our vendor pool so that when these big Hollywood productions come come they will be able to find every piece of equipment from our local market. We have a phrase that we use in the office "Film Belize". That's the phrase we will propel our industry into new heights throughout 2012 and beyond. The 2012 Belize Film Festival, will be a global event and will present Belize in a positive light.

The Begleys Kickstart a New Web Series

The Begleys Kickstart a New Web Series

Studio City, CA - February 15, 2012 - Ed and Rachelle Begley are making their first web series, and they're ready to get it Kickstarted.

Hollywood's sustainable-living power couple is using the Kickstarter platform to fund and promote ON BEGLEY STREET. The new web series explores the building of North America’s greenest, most sustainable home.

"I've had more contact with fans and activists in the past year than I have in the rest of my career combined!" says Ed Begley Jr., Emmy-nominated actor and environmentalist. "Tools like Kickstarter make it possible."

The Kickstarter campaign has a goal of $25,000. Campaign funds will be used for the marketing and distribution of six to ten episodes, making up the first season of the show. The Begleys have already begun production on the show and will continue to shoot and edit throughout spring 2012.

The Begleys hope to combine the freedom and spontaneity of the web series format with their desire to promote social good.

"We want 'ON BEGLEY STREET' to be funny and inspiring," says Rachelle Begley, an actor and advocate for sustainable living. "Sustainable or 'Green' living -- whatever you want to call it -- is actually a lot of fun. It's healthy, keeps the environment safe for the future, and it makes you feel good."

Ed and Rachelle Begley are the most recognized names and faces in Hollywood's environmental movement. The couple co-starred in their own highly successful reality series, “LIVING WITH ED.” They both continue to act in film, television, and theatrical productions, and are equally active in many charities and environmental groups. The Begleys have served on the boards of organizations including Green Wish, The Thoreau Institute, the Earth Communications Office, TreePeople and Friends of the Earth.

Hey,

My friend is working on a really cool Kickstarter Campaign for a show about Ed Begley Jr. and his family's plan to build the greenest house in North America.  The show is a web series they are calling On Begley Street.  If you get a moment go check it out at http://kck.st/zye5UA.  It is going to be a really great look into what it actually takes to make a green home and it is going to be funny too.  The family is very quirky and the constant banter about "Make it green" from Ed and "Make it beautiful" from his wife Rachelle along with their daughter's commentary should definitely be entertaining.
